YouTube to share ad revenue with users

Interesting idea.  YouTube relies on the content created by people to draw others to it’s site.  This generates revenue for YouTube due to advertisements on their pages.  Now YouTube wants to give some of that money back to the people who create content.  It’s been around in the US for a while and is now coming to the UK, it’s an opt-in scheme and results in the user getting a share of the money earned from the ads that run next to their videos.  More video views (and ad clicks) mean a greater amount for the video creator.  I’m guessing it’ll take a lot of views to make a tidy sum.  Still better than nothing.

Perhaps I should start making videos and using YouTube??
